La miop\u00eda es una condici\u00f3n en la que el ojo enfoca im\u00e1genes frente a la retina, en lugar de exactamente sobre ella. La Organizaci\u00f3n Mundial de la Salud (OMS) dice que la miop\u00eda -y la alta miop\u00eda- est\u00e1 aumentando a \u00abuna tasa alarmante\u00bb en todo el mundo, con un incremento en los riesgos de enfermedades oculares graves como cataratas, da\u00f1o retiniano y glaucoma.<\/o:p><\/span><\/div>\n

Investigaciones sugieren que para 2050, la cantidad de personas afectadas por la miop\u00eda alcanzar\u00e1 los 4.800 millones de personas, aproximadamente la mitad de la poblaci\u00f3n mundial, y que la OMS la clasifica entre las \u00abcinco condiciones de salud prioritarias\u00bb del mundo.<\/o:p><\/span><\/div>\n
