En su centro se encuentra la pupila, que es de color negro y, a su alrededor, hay una zona blanca denominada escler\u00f3tica. Lo que ocurre es que adquieren una coloraci\u00f3n azul celeste suave, brillante y uniforme sobre el fondo del epitelio. Un iris de color avellana parece tener un filamento junto a las fibras que hace dif\u00edcil separarlo de la estructura de \u00e9stas. As\u00ed mismo, la parte blanca en el ojo avellana no es tan blanca como en el ojo azul, sino un poco m\u00e1s parduzca.
