Durante los \u00faltimos 20 a\u00f1os, han surgido muchos mitos sobre la cirug\u00eda de la vista LASIK. Pero como LASIK es una opci\u00f3n cada vez m\u00e1s com\u00fan, finalmente se est\u00e1 acabando con esos mitos. A continuaci\u00f3n, algunos de ellos:<\/o:p><\/span><\/div>\n

MITO: todas las personas son candidatos para LASIK.<\/o:p><\/span><\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
REALIDAD: algunos pacientes no califican para la cirug\u00eda de la vista LASIK. No es la mejor opci\u00f3n para pacientes que tienen c\u00f3rneas delgadas o irregulares, enfermedades de la vista o virus oculares. Algunos problemas de salud, como la diabetes no controlada o la enfermedad autoinmune, pueden aumentar los riesgos de obtener malos resultados. <\/o:p><\/span><\/div>\n

MITO: la cirug\u00eda LASIK es dolorosa.<\/o:p><\/span><\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
REALIDAD: la cirug\u00eda de la vista LASIK no causa dolor. Se utilizan gotas anest\u00e9sicas para adormecer el ojo durante el procedimiento. Luego del procedimiento, los pacientes perciben cierta incomodidad, como una sensaci\u00f3n arenosa en el ojo por algunas horas. Sin embargo, la mayor\u00eda de las personas sufren muy pocas molestias y no necesitan m\u00e1s que una aspirina o ibuprofeno para aliviar cualquier irritaci\u00f3n.<\/o:p><\/span><\/div>\n

MITO: la cirug\u00eda LASIK puede causar ceguera.<\/o:p><\/span><\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
REALIDAD: no se han confirmado casos en los que una cirug\u00eda LASIK haya provocado ceguera en un paciente. Sin embargo, han ocurrido algunas complicaciones graves, pero son muy poco comunes. Durante la consulta preoperatoria y el examen, el doctor de atenci\u00f3n de la vista puede repasar todos los posibles riesgos con el paciente, y determinar si el paciente es un buen candidato para ella.<\/o:p><\/span><\/div>\n

MITO: el l\u00e1ser puede quemarle los ojos.<\/o:p><\/span><\/div>\n

REALIDAD: todas las cirug\u00edas de la vista con l\u00e1ser, incluida LASIK, emplean l\u00e1seres \u00abfr\u00edos\u00bb que no queman la superficie del ojo.<\/o:p><\/span><\/div>\n
