La mayor\u00eda est\u00e1n relacionadas con el envejecimiento, muy comunes en las personas mayores, cuando llegan a los 80 a\u00f1os de edad, m\u00e1s de la mitad de las personas tienen o han tenido una operaci\u00f3n de cataratas. Cuando las acumulaciones de prote\u00edna reducen la claridad de la imagen que llega a la retina. Cuando la catarata est\u00e1 peque\u00f1a, la opacidad afecta solamente una peque\u00f1a porci\u00f3n del cristalino. Las cataratas tienden a \u201ccrecer\u201d lentamente, as\u00ed que la visi\u00f3n se deteriora gradualmente. Con el tiempo, el \u00e1rea opaca del cristalino se puede agrandar aumentar su tama\u00f1o. La visi\u00f3n se dificulta, haci\u00e9ndose m\u00e1s opaca o m\u00e1s borrosa.<\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'babelsans'; font-size: 12.0pt;\">2. Cuando el cristalino cambia lentamente a un color amarillento o marr\u00f3n, a\u00f1adiendo un tinte marr\u00f3n a la visi\u00f3n. Este cambio gradual en la cantidad del tinte no afecta la claridad de la imagen transmitida a la retina. Si usted tiene una decoloraci\u00f3n avanzada del cristalino, quiz\u00e1s no pueda identificar los tonos azulados y morados. Por ejemplo, usted puede creer que tiene puesto un par de calcetines negros y no se dar\u00e1 cuenta que son morados hasta que sus amigos se lo digan.<\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: babelsans; font-size: 12pt;\">El riesgo de cataratas aumenta al envejecer. Las luces de los autom\u00f3viles, las l\u00e1mparas o la luz del sol parecen muy brillantes. Una aureola puede aparecer alrededor de las luces.<\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'babelsans'; font-size: 12.0pt;\">No ve bien de noche.<\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'babelsans'; font-size: 12.0pt;\">Visi\u00f3n doble o im\u00e1genes m\u00faltiples en un ojo. (Este s\u00edntoma puede desaparecer cuando la catarata crece.)<\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'babelsans'; font-size: 12.0pt;\">Cambios frecuentes en la receta de sus anteojos o lentes de contacto.<\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'babelsans'; font-size: 12.0pt;\">E<\/span><span style=\"font-family: babelsans; font-size: 12pt;\">stos s\u00edntomas tambi\u00e9n pueden ser se\u00f1ales de otros problemas en los ojos.
